Greetings from Classmates not Attending Reunion

Lou Abbott: Hello all old SMHS friends . . .I am so sorry that we can't be with you this weekend. We took another necessary 10 day trip to So Cal. from our home in Richmond VA at the beginning of the month and simply can do both trips. I hope you all have a blast!

Bruce Boyer: I am writing to regretfully say that my wife Helen, and I will not be attending the reunion after all. We wanted to attend very much, but some things have come up unexpectedly here in Hanford, and we feel it best to stay here this week-end. I am in charge of social events for the staff at my school (I teach 1st grade at a local elementary school), so I can appreciate all of the details that you have had to take care of to make this reunion happen. You have done a fine job, especially of drumming up enthusiasm for the event. I bet that other people remember the melody to the Carver song, but if not, I will send you an mp3 of me singing the song. All my best to you and to the class.

Nancy Brown McNamara: I also hate that I am missing it. Everyone looks great and looks like a fun, fun time! Can't wait for more photos!

Kim Bradford Butts: Wish I could be there with everyone! Sorry to miss the 40th!! Enjoy and post lots of pictures!

Jeannie Combs Derr: I really don't want to miss my class reunion. I send my greetings to all my SMHS class, whether attending, or not. Have fun! I'll miss u.

Else Hoibraaten: Dear all! I would have loved to join you all, as you were all a great part of my AFS year, but the timing made it impossible! However, every year since I spent my AFS year in San Marino, I have had contact with the McClungs! And I have spent a lot of time in California, including living with my family in Solana Beach in 1989! I wish you all a great reunion!

Gail Hutter Vendeland: So sorry to have missed you all but coming from Africa just wasn't in the cards! See you at 50!

Rob Koenig: We had planned on coming but our plans have changed. I have a National Sales Meeting that runs through Saturday now and to top everything else off we just sold our house and will be moving right around the time of the Reunion.

Linda Payne: I think that [the reunion] may be during our vacation... Bummer.

John Petrey: Sorry to have missed it. Attended a great wedding of one of my staff, though.

Marla Shives Lytle: I am so sorry business kept me away from such a wonderful reunion! You all look amazing and I'm enjoying all the fantastic pictures everyone is posting! Marla Shives From the Fabulous Class of 1972!!!!

Ed Weber: Big night tomorrow. Wish I could be there. Will be there for the big 5-0 instead. Somebody better take a LOT of pictures and post them somewhere. Party on!

Friday, July 27, 2012:
- Girls Evening at Kelley Hurt Purnell's father's house (1060 Avondale Road, San Marino), 6:00 p.m. $20 suggested donation at the door. Heavy appetizers and wine.

- All class meet-up for cocktails at the TapRoom at the Langham Huntington at 7:00 p.m. (organized by Rob Ukropina and Peter Adanalian). No sign-up needed.

Saturday, July 28, 2012:

- Saturday morning walk. Gather in the front lobby of the Langham Huntington Hotel at 8:45 a.m., and depart at 9:00 a.m. A comfortable walk on Saturday morning to get some exercise, share stories, and reminisce about our old neigbhorhoods before it gets too warm. The route will be from the Langham Huntington Hotel to Lacy Park (along Old Mill Road and Virginia Road), one lap inside the park, then return along Monterey Road to the Langham Huntington (total about 3 miles). Hosted by Dick Grannis.

- Pizza and drinks (beer, wine, and soft drinks) at Rob Ukropina's suite at the Langham Huntington Hotel. 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Email Rob at rob@ukropina.com to let him know if you'll be attending so he can have enough food and drink. He will then email you his suite number.
